AUGUST 2018
Year 2, a windy, rainy Sunday morning mid August, Summer is coming to an end. The bracken is tall a few leaves on the ground & the woodland floor is clear. Badgers have established a set, evidence of bird kill. A fallow dear was standing by the woodstore when I pulled up. All the paths are clear, not a lot to do this month other than to enjoy it.
SEPTEMBER
Daffodil bulbs planted, squirrels highly active.
Communication with Bromsgrove planning on permitted development to erect 20 x 10 ft shelter / store on site. They are not saying anything on caravan situation. I think I've won argument, will know after 28th of this month. If i have i will publish argument & case law quoted on planning regulation page.
Removed several dead trees & branches. Dug up seven tree stumps.
Ordered 40 Norway spruce traditional Christmas trees. 40cm, 3 year old trees. Will grow in shade, resistant to drought or water logged conditions. Also dear do not like to eat them so should grow under canopy on woodland floor & provide income when sold at Christmas.
OCTOBER
40 Norway spruce planted, will plant more this time next year.
Storm Callum hits. Trees down throughout the whole of the woods . Dale wood largely unaffected, only one young tree down & many branches.
NOVEMBER
Storms & rain, leaves falling & many broken branches. Moto cross jump constructed from fallen tree.
Third hidden entrance / exit created.
DECEMBER
Wood looks very bare & bleak, tracks holding up, no signs of flooding. Several muntjacs deer sightings.
Nothing from Bromsgrove council, caravan can stop.

JANUARY
Daffodils & bluebells emerging due to the mild weather, some dear damage to spruce, transplanted numerous holly saplings to screen track
FEBRUARY
5O x 2ft Hybrid willow saplings planted for sustainable firewood, Laurel saplings planted as hedge to divide woods
Rode KTM cold & muddy
MARCH
Daffodils in bloom, rabbitts eat 80% of willow saplings. Alot of deer & badger activity
APRIL
Hyundai chainsaw so unreliable, bit the bullit & bought 12 inch petrol Stihll. It starts & keeps running.
New wood store from donated trees from Dan. Fallen trees sawn up & added to it. late bloom of daffodils, bluebells emerging.
Spent ist Sunday in wood with Sarah, bacon sandwiches cooked on open fire
Sunday 14th rode electric KTM, tested new log jump.
3 dead trees cut down, rabbits have eaten most of the willow shoots so protective tubes ordered, wood is now full of bluebells
